Cincinnati Bengals Coach of the Week

The Cincinnati Bengals Coach of the Week presented by Paycor awards outstanding high school football coaches for their hard work and dedication, as well as their success on the field and in the community. Currently in its 23rd year, the Cincinnati Bengals High School Coach of the Week program has awarded over $250,000 to high school football programs throughout the Tri-State. This season's program will award $20,000 to aid in the development and promotion of high school football across the Tri-State, thanks to contributions from the Cincinnati Bengals, the NFL Foundation and Paycor.

2024 Bengals Coach of the Week Honorees

Week 1 - Tom Bolden, Lakota West High School

Week 1 - Tom Bolden, Lakota West High School

Tom Bolden assumed the helm of the Firebirds in 2019. He had been head coach at Colerain High School leading them to twelve consecutive Greater Miami Conference (GMC) league titles and 11 playoff appearances. He became a head coach in 2007 and has posted an outstanding winning percentage of over 85%. Since arriving at Lakota West his winning ways have continued. The Firebirds have reached the playoffs every year, making several appearances in the Regional Finals, and have won the coveted Greater Miami Conference (GMC) title in three of the last 5 years. Players under his guidance have played at every collegiate and professional level available from Power Five giants like Ohio State and Michigan, Division III powers like his Alma Mater, Wittenberg University, and teams in the NFL, USFL, XFL, and UFL. His wins come over opponents not only from Ohio but include outstanding programs from Florida, Texas, Indiana, Kentucky, Alabama, Pennsylvania, and Canada and he has two trips to the State Championship.

He himself was a standout prep player for Colerain High School as a three-year varsity starting quarterback and catcher on the baseball team, posting winning records in each season. He continued his playing days in both football and baseball while at Wittenberg University before graduating with a Bachelor's degree.

Tom and his wife Lisa have four sons, Jake (wife Bridget), Kyle, Luke, and Mitchell (Lakota West grad/Army football) and two grandchildren (Rowan and Preston).

Week 2 - Randy Borchers, Cooper High School

Randy Borchers is the Head Football Coach and Athletic Director at Cooper High School. Coach Borchers started the Cooper Football Program 17 years ago when Cooper High School opened their doors. Coach Borchers has built the Cooper Football Program into a very successful program over the past 17 years. The football team has won multiple regional titles and have finished as state runner up twice. The 2024 Cooper Football team finished the regular season with a perfect 10-0 record. Coach Borchers credits the success at Cooper to the great players and coaches that he has had the privilege to work with as well as the overwhelming support from his administration.

Week 3 - Jeff Cargile, Cincinnati College Preparatory Academy

Coach Cargile is in his 38th year of coaching and his 3rd year as the Head Coach at CCPA.Coach Cargile is a proud graduate of Roger Bacon High School, where he was a three sport athlete. He went on to play his college football at The Ohio State University, where he was a 3 year Letterman and member of the 1984 Big Ten Championship team. Coach Cargile was a long time assistant coach at several local schools including Madeira, Withrow, his alma mater Roger (twice), Taft (twice). He was named Head Coach at Taft High School in 2016 and from 2016-2020 compiled a record of 38-12, winning conference championships from 2016-2019 and being named Coach of the Year in each of those seasons. In 2019 he led Taft to the first playoff win in Cincinnati Public Schools in 30 years. He became the head coach at CCPA in 2022 and has a record of 21-11. The Lions have won Back to Back CMAC Blue Championships 2023-2024 and Coach Cargile has been named Coach of Year in both of those seasons. This past season Coach Cargile led CCPA to its first Regional Semifinal appearance in school history. Coach Cargile has a career record of 59-23. Coach Cargile is the proud father of Jeffrey Cargile II, who's married to Jennifer Cargile and has two grandchildren, Justice and Jeffrey III. Coach Cargile is married to the love of his life, Shawna Russell-Cargile and has a stepson, Jordan Harris.

Week 4 - Justin Haddix, Boyle County High School

Week 4 - Justin Haddix, Boyle County High School

Coach Haddix attended Breathitt County High School in Jackson, KY where he played quarterback for the Bobcats and led them to a State Championship in 2002. He was a 4-year starter and quarterback at Western Kentucky University. He's spent the last fifteen years as a head coach and has racked up 151 wins during that tenure. His 2017 and 2018 teams were State Runner-Ups in football. The Boyle County Rebels won 4 consecutive State Championships in 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023. He shares three loving daughters with his wife, Melissa.

Week 5 - Eddie Eviston, Covington Catholic High School

Week 5 - Eddie Eviston, Covington Catholic High School

Eddie Eviston started his 10th season in leading the Colonels of Covington Catholic in 2024 and they currently stand at 8-2 on the year as they prepare for the playoffs. Coach Eviston came to Covington Catholic from Georgetown College in Georgetown, Ky, where he was the offensive coordinator in 2013 and 2014. Under his leadership, Georgetown averaged 506 all-purpose yards per game and finished the 2014 season ranked 9th nationally in scoring offense.

Coach Eviston was a three-sport student-athlete at Newport Central Catholic. As a senior football player, he earned 2nd team All-State honors and won the prestigious "That's My Boy" award from the National Football Foundation.

As a player at Georgetown College, Coach Eviston was a two-year team captain, 3-time NAIA National Player of the Year, a 3-Time All-American, and quarterback of the 2000 and 2001 national championship teams. He compiled a 41-1 record as a starting quarterback at Georgetown and was also a National Football Foundation and College Football Hall of Fame Scholar-Athlete Award Finalist. All was achieved while earning an accounting degree and being a member of several campus organizations.

Coach Eviston and his wife, Selina, have 4 daughters: Hadley (15), Harper (13), Dani (10), and Neecie (7).

Week 6 - Arvie Crouch, Hamilton high School

Week 6 - Arvie Crouch, Hamilton high School

A native of Butler County, Coach Crouch is in his 3rd year at the helm of the Big Blue Football program. Crouch is in his 16th season as a head coach with a record of 106-60 at the end of the 2023 season. Coach Crouch and his staff made quite the turnaround, taking the Big Blue program from a 3-8 season in 2022 to a 8-4 season in 2023. Coach has developed over 100+ college players in his career along with multiple NFL players currently playing. In 2023, Coach Crouch was named 2023 Division 1 Region 15 Coach of the year and named OHSFCA South Head Coach of the All-Star game. In the 2024 season, the Big Blue had some impressive wins beating Princeton 34-0 and rivals Badin 15-0, Fairfield 42-21, and Middletown 42-7.

Week 7 - Benjamin Moorman

Benjamin Moorman grew up in Reading, Ohio and graduated from Moeller High School in 2007. Following high school, he attended and played football at the College of Mount St. Joseph and graduated in 2012. His wife, Amber, and him have three children. He's spent the last 12 years coaching high school football around the Cincinnati area that include schools such as Reading, Moeller, Loveland, Madeira, and West Clermont. He is in my third year at WC but his first year as head coach. He is currently 5-2 for the first time in school history and have the two leading rushers in the ECC. They look forward to continuing to build a championship culture at WC.

Coach Hall graduated from Ansonia in 2010 where he played High school football for legendary coach Eugene Hoening. He Graduated from Defiance college in 2014 where he played football for four years. Coach Hall just completed his eleventh season coaching (6 as an assistant at Ansonia, 2 as head coach at Tri- County North, and 3 as Head Coach at Ansonia). In three seasons with Ansonia, the Tigers have been WOAC Champions three years in a row, going 33-4 in two years and finishing as Region 28 Runners up in 2023.

David Dransman is a dedicated high school football coach with a passion for building winning programs and developing young leaders. In his tenure at Taylor High School, he has led the Yellow Jackets to the playoffs in two of his first four seasons. This year, Coach Dransman guided Taylor to a historic 10-3 record, achieving the most playoff victories in school history. His leadership has been instrumental in fostering a culture of success and growth, both on and off the field. Known for his ability to inspire his players, Dransman is committed to helping them reach their full potential while setting new benchmarks for the program. His impact extends beyond the gridiron, emphasizing the importance of character, teamwork, and perseverance in shaping well-rounded individuals.

Week 10 - Kali Jones, Middletown High School

Coach Jones' first year at Middletown was a historic one for the Middies football program. Under his leadership, the team finished with a 5-5 record, marking their first non-losing

season since 2011. This improvement not only ended a long stretch of sub-.500 seasons but also secured the team a playoff berth, signaling a promising future for the program. Coach Jones' ability to bring stability and success in his debut season has generated excitement among the Middletown community, and many are hopeful for continued growth in the seasons to come.
