5 Things to Know about New Bengal Lucas Patrick

The Bengals signed free agent Lucas Patrick to add experience to the offensive line room. Here are five facts to know about the new Bengals offensive lineman.

1. Experience

Patrick, 31, was an undrafted free agent in 2017 and now enters his 10th NFL season. He has started on three NFL lines over the course of nearly a decade — the Green Bay Packers, the Chicago Bears and the New Orleans Saints — and has 64 career starts.

2. Versatility

Patrick has started at multiple positions along the offensive line, including both guard spots and center. He started at all three spots over a seven-week stretch with the Bears in 2022.

"There's probably been a few games in my career where I've played different positions," Patrick told Bengals.com senior writer Geoff Hobson. "That's something I pride myself on. Being ready when my number is called."

3. The Brotherhood

Patrick attended Duke University from 2011-2015, majoring in history with a focus on the post-Enlightenment period in Europe. Patrick is the second Blue Devil currently on the Bengals' roster, joining LB Shaka Heyward.

4. Special Teams Ace

Believe it or not, the 313-pound offensive lineman has some special teams stats to his name: Patrick fielded two kickoffs for the Packers in 2018, returning them for 23 total yards, including a long of 15 yards.

5. High School Highlights

A three-year letterman at Brentwood High School in Brentwood, Tenn., Patrick was ranked as highly as the No. 25 guard prospect in the nation by ESPN.com. He was named first team all state in 2010, serving as team captain. Patrick helped lead Brentwood to three playoff berths and 29 wins over three seasons.
