The Bengals' defense forced two red-zone turnovers, Cade York hit a 59-yard field goal to tie the franchise record and Joe Burrow threw three touchdown passes as Cincinnati swept their season series with the Browns in Sunday's 24-6 victory at Paycor Stadium.
Burrow became the first quarterback in NFL history to throw for 250+ yards and three touchdowns in seven straight games. The last touchdown came with 1:44 left in the game on a 32-yard "free play," to wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase after Browns edge rusher Myles Garrett jumped offsides.
Bengals running Chase Brown logged his fifth straight game with more than 100 scrimmage yards and Ja'Marr Chase, with six catches for 97 yards, broke his own franchise receiving yardage record and became the first Bengal to hit 1,500 yards.
NOTES
Ja'Marr Sets Franchise Record
Ja'Marr Chase entered the day needing just 43 receiving yards to surpass his own Bengals single-season record of 1,455, and he hit that number on his fourth catch midway through the second quarter. Chase now has 1,510 receiving yards after a 97-yard performance in Week 16, maintaining his league lead through Sunday's games.
Chase is the 57th player in NFL history to record 1,500 receiving yards in a season. He also became just the third player ever with at least 100 receptions, 1,500 receiving yards and 15 receiving touchdowns in the first 15 games of a season, joining Pro Football Hall of Famers Randy Moss (2003) and Jerry Rice (1995).
Burrow's Historic Day
Joe Burrow became the first quarterback in NFL history to throw for 250+ yards and 3+ touchdowns in seven consecutive games. He entered Sunday as one of two quarterbacks to hit those marks in six straight contests, alongside Tom Brady.
Burrow also reached 4,000 passing yards this season on the Bengals' first offensive possession. He now has passed for at least 4,000 yards three times (2021, 2022, 2024), the most such seasons in Bengals history. Carson Palmer (2006, 2007) and Andy Dalton (2013, 2016) each did it twice in their Cincinnati career.
Burrow also became the fourth quarterback in NFL history with at least 4,000 passing yards and 30 touchdown passes in three of his first five seasons, joining Dan Marino, Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen.
York Ties Team Record
Cade York drilled a 59-yard field goal as the first half clock expired, extending Cincinnati's lead to 17-0 at the break. It tied the team record for longest made field goal, matching Evan McPherson’s 59-yarder in the 2022 season opener against Pittsburgh.
York's kick tied for the fourth-longest in the NFL this season, and surpassed his previous career-long of 58 yards — which coincidentally came on the same day as McPherson's boot (Sept. 11, 2022). That also was York's NFL debut, when he played for Cleveland.
Bell Forces Early Turnover
Veteran safety Vonn Bell came through with a critical play on the game's opening drive, as he both forced and recovered a fumble at the Bengals' one-yard line to prevent an early Cleveland touchdown.
The play marked Bell's 16th career forced fumble, and first since Week 16 of the 2022 season at New England. His 16 fumbles forced since he entered the NFL in 2016 are tied for 13th leaguewide.
Offense Capitalizes With 99-Yard Touchdown Drive
Cincinnati's offense took over possession following the Bell recovery and drove 99 yards in eight plays, culminating in a two-yard touchdown pass from Burrow to Tee Higgins. The Bengals featured a balanced attack during the drive, as Burrow completed each of his four passing attempts for 41 yards and the team rushed four times for 53 yards.
The Bengals now have completed a 99-yard touchdown drive for the second consecutive season, as they also did it in Week 18 of last year — which also was at home against Cleveland. Prior to the 2023 finale, however, Cincinnati's most recent 99-yard touchdown drive was on Sept. 18, 1994 vs. New England.
The touchdown catch was Higgins' seventh of the season, which tied his career high set in 2022. He now has five receiving touchdowns in his last six games played.
Battle's First of the Year Preserves Two-Score Lead
Jordan Battle picked off a Dorian Thompson-Robinson pass in the end zone with 13:32 remaining in the fourth quarter and the Bengals leading 17-6. It was Battle's first interception of the season and the second of his career. His first career pick also came against Cleveland, in Week 18 of last season.

Hendrickson Extends Sack Lead
Trey Hendrickson dropped Thompson-Robinson for a seven-yard loss to back the Browns into third-and-16 early in the second quarter. It boosted Hendrickson's sack total this season to a league-leading 13.5. He now is four shy of his career-high 17.5 sacks recorded last season.
Hendrickson's sack tally since joining the Bengals in 2021 now is at 53.0, which is six shy of former defensive end Ross Browner (59.0) for the fifth-most in team history.
Three in a Row for Geno
Geno Stone came up with Cincinnati's second interception on back-to-back Cleveland drives when he secured a tipped pass midway through the fourth quarter. It was Stone's fourth interception, and his third in the last three games.
Stone now has 11 interceptions since the start of the 2023 season, tied with Detroit safety Kerby Joseph for the most in the NFL in that span.
Extra Points
· WR Andrei Iosivas’ touchdown catch in the second quarter was his 10th career receiving score. Each of his 10 receiving touchdowns have come from inside the opponent's 10-yard line.
· G Alex Cappa played in his 100th career regular-season game.
· TE Tanner McLachlan made his NFL debut.
· DT McKinnley Jackson recorded his first career sack in the fourth quarter.
