EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Bengals cornerback DJ Turner knocked down a fourth-down pass from the Bengals 36 with 3:01 left in the game, and running back Chase Brown sealed it when he blew through the middle for a 30-yard touchdown run with 1:51 left. The Bengals took home a 17-7 victory over the Giants Sunday night at MetLife Stadium, their first ever win over New York on the road.

Moments after Turner's play, Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow scrambled out of the pocket on third-and-12 and whipped a 29-yard toe-tap sideline completion to wide receiver Andrei Iosivas.

Burrow started the wild night converting a third-and-18 with the longest touchdown run ever by a Bengals quarterback on a 47-yard ramble scramble down a wide-open right sideline. Burrow punctuated the longest run of his career by stretching to the pylon as two Giants fell on him.

Burrow finished the night 19 of 28 for 208 yards, while the Bengals' defense allowed just seven points and forced four punts.

NOTES

Burrow's Career-Long Run Opens Scoring

Joe Burrow punctuated the Bengals' opening drive by escaping the pocket on third-and-18 and running 47 yards to the end zone for his first rushing touchdown of the season. It was the longest run of his career, surpassing his previous long of 23 yards recorded in both the 2020 and 2022 season openers.

The play marked the longest touchdown run by a quarterback in Bengals history, eclipsing Jeff Driskel's 27-yarder on Nov. 11, 2018 against New Orleans. It also was the longest rushing score by any Cincinnati player since RB Jeremy Hill's 74-yarder on Oct. 23, 2016.

Cincinnati's opening drive traveled 69 yards on eight plays, and the Bengals converted both third downs they faced. It marked the second time this season that Cincinnati scored a touchdown to open a game, with the first instance coming in Week 3 vs. Washington.

Defense Steps Up In Prime Time

The Bengals' seven points allowed were their fewest in a game since Dec. 1, 2019, when they held the Jets to six points in a home win.

Wolfpack Team Up For First-Quarter Pick

A pair of former NC State teammates helped the Bengals notch the game's first takeaway, when late in the opening quarter defensive tackle B.J. Hill deflected a Daniel Jones throw and linebacker Germaine Pratt corralled the interception at Cincinnati's three-yard line. It was Pratt's first pick of the season and his third takeaway, as he recovered a fumble in Week 2 at Kansas City and in overtime last week against Baltimore.

Pratt now has six career interceptions, tied for the fourth-most among all NFL linebackers since his first pick in 2021.

Hill, who spent his first three pro seasons (2018-20) with the Giants, finished the night with seven tackles while batting down two passes at the line of scrimmage.

Chase's 33-Yarder Sets Up Go-Ahead Field Goal

Burrow bought time in the pocket and found receiver Ja’Marr Chase downfield for a 33-yard throw and catch midway through the third quarter. It was Cincinnati's longest pass of the night and marked Chase's league-leading sixth reception of 30+ yards this season.

The Chase catch set up an Evan McPherson 37-yard field goal eight plays later that gave the Bengals a 10-7 lead.

Two Sacks For Trey

Trey Hendrickson recorded his fourth and fifth sacks of the season, bringing Jones down for losses of nine yards in the second quarter and six yards late in the fourth. It was Hendrickson's 13th career multi-sack game and his ninth since joining the Bengals in 2021, which is tied for the fifth-most such games in the NFL in that span.

QUOTES

"I think you can name a lot of people on that defense that really stepped up. Three turnovers on downs, the turnover and just a lot of big plays. And (the Giants) got some, that's kind of how their offense operates. They've got a good, efficient operation. I think their quarterback does a really good job. But our defense stepped up at the right times and held them to seven points." -- Head Coach Zac Taylor, on the Bengals' defensive performance

"I just saw an opening, saw it was man coverage and was able to squeak through there and find the end zone." -- Quarterback Joe Burrow, on his 47-yard touchdown run

"It was great to see our defense step up today. That was exciting to see. We got healthier up front. You could see that really affected the pass rush. They were getting a lot of pressure on the day. Our defensive backs were sticky in coverage all day. Mike (Hilton) made some big plays, big tackles, blitzing and in coverage. So, that was great to get him back." -- Quarterback Joe Burrow, on the defensive performance

"Playing complementary football is important. It's important especially if you want to get them rolling and starting to stack wins. Continuing to chop wood, like I said, do the hard work, put in the effort and continue to grind for those wins." -- Defensive end Trey Hendrickson, on how tonight's win can create momentum for the team moving forward
