On Career Day Sunday at Paycor Stadium, Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow threw a career-high-tying five touchdown passes, running back Chase Brown racked up the first 100-yard day of his career and NFL sack leader Trey Hendrickson logged a career-high four sacks in a 41-24 win over the Raiders.
With Bengals former Pro Bowl tight end Tyler Eifert watching as Ruler of the Jungle, tight end Mike Gesicki was Burrow's leading receiver with five catches for 100 yards with two scores, his first multi-touchdown day in four years.
Burrow finished with 27 of 39 for 251 yards and 115.5 passer rating.
Hendrickson got that league-leading 11th sack late in the game on a strip against a Las Vegas offensive line that saw three players exit to injury.
Brown got those 120 yards on another career high 27 carries.
The undermanned Bengals offense, already down three wide receivers and running back Zack Moss, lost one of their most versatile players when rookie tight end Erick All exited with a right knee injury in the second quarter.
NOTES
Trey's Goes for Four
Trey Hendrickson recorded a career-high four sacks to reach 11 on the season, good for the NFL lead through Sunday's afternoon slate of games. His four sacks were the second-most in any NFL game this season, and were the most by a Bengals player since former edge rusher Antwan Odom had five on Sept. 20, 2009 against Green Bay.
Hendrickson's first sack of the afternoon came late in the second quarter, when he dropped Gardner Minshew for a seven-yard loss to force the Raiders into a third-and-19. He notched his second on the opening play of the fourth quarter, taking down Desmond Ridder to back Las Vegas into a fourth-and-15.
His third occurred midway through the fourth quarter to once again force the Raiders into a fourth-and-long, then less than two minutes later he punctuated the day with a strip-sack that was recovered by Logan Wilson at the Las Vegas 13-yard line.
The performance marked Hendrickson's 15th career multi-sack stat line and his fourth this season. His previous single-game career high for sacks was 2.5, which he recorded twice -- in Week 3 of the 2022 season at the Jets, and in Week 5 of the 2023 campaign at Arizona.
Brown Carries the Load
Chase Brown recorded career highs in rushing attempts (27), rushing yards (120), receptions (five), and yards from scrimmage (157) on Sunday. His touchdown catch in the first quarter was the third of his career and second this season. He now has six touchdowns over the last six games (four rushing, two receiving).
Burrow to Brown Puts Bengals on Board
Joe Burrow capped off Cincinnati's first offensive possession with a one-yard touchdown pass to Chase Brown to tie the game 7-7. The drive traveled 70 yards on 13 plays, and included a conversion on fourth-and-three when Burrow stepped up in the pocket and found tight end Tanner Hudson for an 11-yard gain.
Burrow completed each of his eight passing attempts on the drive. Over the last two games, he has gone 19 of 20 for 111 yards and two TDs on the Bengals' first offensive possession.
The Bengals have found the end zone on their first offensive possession in three of the last four games, with the outlier coming in Week 7 at Cleveland when Charlie Jones gave them an early lead with a 100-yard return on the game's opening kickoff. Sunday's game against Las Vegas marked the first time in the NFL this season that both teams had a touchdown drive of 10+ plays on their opening possession.
Wilson Recovery Sets Up Gesicki's First
Logan Wilson scooped up a Raiders fumble on a third-down play in the third quarter, and returned it 10 yards to the Las Vegas 21. It was Wilson's first career fumble recovery.
Cincinnati capitalized on the turnover five plays later, when Burrow rolled left and found Mike Gesicki for an 11-yard score that boosted the lead to 31-10. It was Gesicki's first touchdown as a member of the Bengals, and his first since week 16 of the 2023 season (with New England).
Wilson also recovered another fumble in the fourth quarter, jumping on a loose ball caused by a Hendrickson strip-sack that set up Cincinnati's offense at the Raiders' 13-yard line. Wilson is the first Bengals player to have two fumble recoveries in a game since B.J. Hill in Week 3 of the 2022 season at the Jets.
Gesicki Hits Century Mark
Gesicki finished the afternoon with five grabs for a season-high 100 yards and two touchdowns, with his second score coming on a 47-yarder from Burrow in the fourth quarter that made it 38-17. The play marked his second-longest career reception, behind a 70-yarder on Oct. 11, 2020 at San Francisco when he played for Miami.
Gesicki logged his third career 100-yard receiving game and his first since Oct. 17, 2021 against Jacksonville, also when he played for the Dolphins. Sunday additionally marked the third time in Bengals history that a tight end had 100+ receiving yards and multiple touchdowns. The last Bengals tight end to do it was Sunday's Ruler of the Jungle, Tyler Eifert, who posted 104 yards and two scores on Sept. 13, 2015 against the Raiders in Oakland.
Yoshi Finds Paydirt Before Halftime
Andrei Iosivas scored his fourth touchdown of the season on a 10-yard pass from Burrow that gave the Bengals a 17-10 lead with 32 seconds left in the first half.
Iosivas now has eight career receiving touchdowns, and each have come inside the opponent's 10-yard line.
Burrow finished the first half with 18 completions on 21 attempts for 149 yards and two touchdowns — good for a passer rating of 128.0.
Bengals Double-Up to Build Lead
The Bengals extended their lead to 24-10 when Burrow found Drew Sample on a scramble drill for the tight end's first touchdown of the season, punctuating the opening drive of the third quarter.
It marked the third time this season that Cincinnati scored a touchdown in the final minute of the first half, then found the end zone again on the opening possession of the second half.

QUOTES
"To get over 100 yards, that's a credit to him, that's a credit to linemen and the receivers and tight ends. Great job with the scheme there by Frank (Pollack). I'm just proud of the effort, he allowed us to lean on that. But when you can play with the lead, you're able to keep hammering that and get some runs like we got. We haven't given ourselves enough of those opportunities lately. This is a game where, when you finally get a two or three-score lead, you can lean on that and wear them down and get some bigger runs. We afforded ourselves those opportunities today." -- Head Coach Zac Taylor, on Chase Brown's performance and the team playing with a lead
"Gesicki is a guy we've been able to lean on. And I know there was a lull there in the season where he didn't get a lot of targets, but that's just the way this offense goes sometimes. Joe (Burrow) does a great job dispersing it to wherever the concept is calling for and what the defense gives you, and Mike has done an excellent job capitalizing on his opportunities." -- Head Coach Zac Taylor, on Mike Gesicki's performance on Sunday and this season
"That's just how the game played out. They mix up their coverages a lot. And when you do that, it's hard for me pre-snap to understand where the ball is going to go. So, I'm just reading and reacting. And with Maxx Crosby over there, you have to play the game quickly and process quickly and get the ball out. I was happy with how I did that today. I got sacked a couple times. I think for the most part, I read and reacted to the defense very efficiently today." -- Joe Burrow, on completing passes to eight different receivers
"Anybody who's rooting for the Cincinnati Bengals knows it's a must-win game. We had a good plan. There's things we need to correct and obviously we're going to have to do that on a short week." -- Defensive End Trey Hendrickson, on the importance of picking up a win on Sunday
"You kind of pay attention, but the offensive line was blocking their tails off today, so they were making my job easy by opening up running lanes and breaking tackles to make them bigger. It fees good — (we've got to) continue this energy into Thursday." -- Chase Brown, on whether he was aware he reached 100 rushing yards
"I told everybody I just feel like I'm living right because that happened. My wife could have probably scored on that play. Honestly, a lot of credit goes to Ja'Marr (Chase) because of how much attention he gets. It was just a fake screen, pump the screen to Ja'Marr and Joe (Burrow) put it out there and like I said, (my wife) Halle could have probably scored on that one." -- Tight End Mike Gesicki, on his 47-yard touchdown
