The Bengals have sold more than 5,000 new season tickets, which they figure puts them in the top 10 of the NFL. They're also in the top 10 with the sale of more than 600 new club seats, according to club officials Jeff Berding and Andrew Brown.
In the effort to add the Sept. 16 regular-season opener at 1 p.m. against the Browns to the list of virtual sellouts, the club has added 10 new suite holders and retained more than 95 percent of its season-ticket holders.
With season tickets and ticket packs the only tickets available for the Oct. 21 Sunday night game against the Steelers on NBC and the 1 p.m. game against the Cowboys on Dec. 9, the Bengals believe they are "within shouting distance" of putting the home opener in the same category. Sales of the 1 p.m. Oct. 7 game against the Dolphins have also gone well, but the focus is on selling out the Cleveland game.
