Bengals Line Highlights: A.J. Green

Bengals Line Presented by Bud Light is recorded live every Monday night from 6-9 p.m. at the Holy Grail Banks.

A.J. Green joined hosts Dave Lapham and Lance McAlister this week.

Here are some highlights:

On being a dad…

"It gives you that balance. What we go through in that locker room from week to week and when you didn't win, it's tough. But when you go home and you see your family, you see your kid, they don't judge you. You're still dad. Coming home to my family keeps everything balanced, back to reality. When I'm in the locker room, I'm competitive. When I get home, I'm dad, softie. It's bath time when I get home."

On being excited about talented young players…

"Especially on the offensive side of the ball when we drafted John (Ross) and Joe (Mixon). John is not really healthy yet, so a lot of people don't know what he can do right now. But we've seen him at practice and he's going to be very special for us. And with Joe, that guy is going to be a special back in the league for a long time. We got a steal on him. And Carl Lawson and Jordan (Willis), those guys to where they're playing and we're getting younger on the back end of the defense. Those guys are really going to help us."

On getting in shape during the offseason…

"I just switched it up. I brought Ben down here from Ignition. I did a lot of one-on-one stuff, just me and him. I feel like I get a better workout when I'm working by myself, so I don't have to wait on anybody and I can get stuff catered to me, catered to my skillset being a receiver. So we did a lot of boxing hands, feet, eye coordination. A lot of work like that."

On his leadership style…

"For me, I'm not really a vocal leader. I lead by example. So today at practice, what I do during the offseason, the way I take care of my body, the way I eat, I just try to lead by example and I hope these other guys follow along."

On WR John Ross…

"It's going to be great when he comes back because you can't teach the speed that he has. Whenever he's on the field, he has to be accounted for. So once he gets back and we put some things in for him to get the ball in his hands in space and see what he can do."

On Ross' speed...

"He's a great route runner. He can transition right out of his breaks with how fast he is. Sometimes you watch him and you're like how in the world are you running that fast. The first day of practice a couple of weeks ago, he came back, he was running so fast, he just fell. His feet just came right from under him. He was moving so fast, I ain't never seen nothing like that. He was so fast and it was just like he skipped and he fell. Just watching him get better each week, it's really going to help us out."
