With starting cornerback Adam Jones (foot) and slot cornerback Leon Hall (back) questionable for Sunday's game (1 p.m.-Cincinnati's Channel 19) in Cleveland and backup cornerback Chris Lewis-Harris (ribs) doubtful, the Bengals dipped into their practice squad for the first time this season to promote rookie cornerback Troy Hill to the active roster.
The Bengals waived Lewis-Harris to make room for Hill, a college free agent out of Oregon. The Bengals could have opted for Asa Jackson, an 18-game NFL veteran they signed to the practice squad on Monday. But the 5-11, 180-pound Hill, who had eight tackles and two passes defensed in the four pre-season games, has impressed the coaches during 12 weeks of practice. Plus, Hill has been in special teams coordinator Darrin Simmons' scheme all year and that is going to be his primary role in place of Lewis-Harris.
Since back-up slot corner Darqueze Dennard is on injured reserve, one of the next men up in the slot is rookie cornerback Josh Shaw.
