Bengals sign LB Maxwell

The Bengals on Wednesday signed free agent linebacker Jim Maxwell to the roster.

Maxwell is a fifth-year NFL player. He played in three games for Cincinnati last season, with three tackles and a forced fumble on special teams. He also played in all four Bengals 2008 preseason games, with six tackles, a forced fumble and a pass defensed, and a team-leading four special-teams tackles. He was released by the Bengals on Aug. 30 and has not previously been on an NFL roster this regular season.
