The Cowboys had a massive meltdown on Sunday, which allowed the Lions to come back from 24 points down at the half. Why this is important to fantasy owners is because it shows that from the neck up, something is preventing Tony Romo from winning not only the big one, but the tough ones as well. And, it also says to me that the Lions are a team that is for real, but has to come from behind on a regular basis to win games. From a fantasy standpoint, the people of Dallas are going to be calling for Romo's head if this continues and the Matthew Stafford/Calvin Johnson duo is a must-have in fantasy leagues.
Romo still finished the game with top 5 fantasy QB numbers by throwing for 331 yards and 3 TDs. This is just more evidence that NFL value and fantasy value aren't always one in the same. Romo snatched defeat out of the jaws of victory for Cowboys fans, but he led many fantasy teams to a Week 4 victory with 33 fantasy points in standard scoring formats.
Tarvaris Jackson: Tarvaris "I don't know how to look off a receiver" Jackson stepped up for the three people who own him this weekend by posting a manly line of 319 passing yards, 3 TDs and 2 INTs. Either Jackson found the secret to throwing against a defense that was ranked 13th in fantasy points allowed to QBs (and my defensive pick this week), or he had a fluke game and will never repeat it again. My money is on the latter of the two.
Andy Dalton: Dalton and the Bengals Who Dey'd up and slapped down my pick for most overrated team after three weeks, the Buffalo Bills. Dalton did throw two picks, but he also managed to finish with 298 passing yards and 2 TDs. A.J. Green is proving to be a great asset to him in his rookie season, and the Dalton/Green combo could turn out to be a very good thing for years to come.
Matt Forte: It is always a bad day for me when the Bears players do well because I get non-stop texts from my buddy Chris about how good the Bears are and blah blah blah. But, on Sunday, I had to give Forte his props because he came through in a huge way for fantasy owners by churning out 205 yards on the ground, 23 from the air and scoring just to fill up the box score.
Beanie Wells: Wells finally busted out and had the game fantasy owners have been waiting for since drafting him as a flier RB at the end of the 8th round. Any time you can get 138 yards on the ground with 3 TDs, you take that and run with it!
Eric Decker: Decker is someone I own in a lot of leagues, but did not play this weekend and regret it. Decker finished with just 5 receptions for 56 yards, but managed to finish off a drive twice with touchdowns. His yards and receptions won't win any awards, but his 2 TDs do.
Hakeem Nicks: Nicks shook off his knee problems and dusted the Cardinals secondary with 10 catches for 162 yards and a score. Nicks is owned and started in virtually every league in the world, but these types of numbers are impressive and deserve to be noticed.
Jimmy Graham: Graham has his owners asking for S'MORE after putting up 10 catches for 132 yards and a TD on Sunday. Graham is a must-start from here on out as he has Brees's confidence and provides a massive target (6-6, 260) in the red zone.
Tennessee Titans Defense: The Titans defense had an unusually good game this weekend as it held the Browns to just 13 points while getting four sacks, one INT and a pick-6 (INT returned for a TD) for those who play in leagues with that stat.
Ben Roethlisberger: Big Ben wasn't chiming this weekend as the Texans held him to an empty 206 yards in the air. Roethlisberger is always a risky play in fantasy leagues because he has games like this more than you would think from a Super Bowl-winning QB. I was wrong here, but as Jackson proved already, on any given Sunday ...
Ryan Fitzpatrick: And I go 0-2 with my QB picks as Fitzpatrick mans down and posts 199 passing yards with no end zone visits. I knew the Bills would eventually come plummeting back to Earth as if someone shot them down from the heavens above, but did Fitzy really have to do this to me and the 55 percent of owners who started him this weekend?
Adrian Peterson: I am not a big fan of AP, but I will recognize his talent and fantasy value. However, when you are on a winless team, you are bound to have games where you run for 80 yards with no scores. And, that is just what Peterson did this weekend.
Tim Hightower: There may be cause for concern here as Ryan Torain didn't see a single snap in Weeks 1-3, but finished Sunday's game with 19 carries for 135 yards and a TD. Hightower on the other hand touched the ball just eight times for 24 yards and no scores. Watch this situation closely.
Andre Johnson: Johnson fell victim to the injury bug on Sunday as he left the game midway through the second quarter. He was able to net 36 yards before leaving, but stats rule everything in fantasy football and 36 yards won't get it done. Word initially is he just pulled his hamstring, but you need to check back Tuesday after his MRI to see if he tore it.
Stevie Johnson: As we all know, when your QB makes the losers list, so will the WR1 most of the time. That is exactly what happened to Johnson this weekend as he finished with just 58 yards and no TDs. The Bills are an overrated team in my opinion and you will have to pay close attention to them going forward.
Rob Gronkowski: Gronk showed why TEs are feast or famine players in fantasy football as he managed to haul in just a single catch for 15 yards this weekend. He is still someone that will have massive value at the TE spot, but TEs are a rollercoaster for fantasy stats.
Atlanta Falcons Defense: How do you let Tarvaris Jackson run up the boxscore on you? Well, that is exactly what the Falcons D did this weekend as they gave up 28 points while getting just two INTs on the day. Not a single sack; not a single fumble; nothing but a few interceptions to brag about. Is the world coming to an end now that Jackson had a winning fantasy day?
