Bengals Hall-of-Famer Anthony Munoz hosts his annual youth leadership seminar Friday at Cincinnati's Xavier University with the theme "Trending Now" delivered by a collection of speakers ranging from Cincinnati TV anchors Mike Dardis and Brad Johansen to University of Cincinnati president Sanata Ono. Also scheduled to speak is Lisa Hill, mother of Lauren Hill, one of the nation's great voices in the fight against cancer. Munoz, a member of the Hall's 1998 class, continues to deploy his foundation throughout Greater Cincinnati with an event that sees an estimated 1,300 high school students converging on the Cintas Center. Friday's focus is on empowering youth to identify positive trends, reject negative trends, and be positive trendsetters in the community.
But the project goes well beyond Friday. Students who attend the event are urged to brainstorm and develop service project ideas during the day based on the needs in their community. They then execute their ideas from October-April in hopes of winning the Munoz Foundation's Service Challenge.
