Notes: PBS gets NationVision

Posted: 3:40 p.m.

Paul Brown Stadium's scoreboard crew keeps putting up points with its third straight national award under the direction of JungleVision producer Scott Simpson.

The Information Display and Entertainment Association (IDEA), the premier professional association for the big screen/game entertainment industry, recently recognized the Bengals and PBS with the Golden Matrix Award as best in the nation for football stadium.

In the previous two years the Bengals got a Golden Matrix for Best Music Videos, one of which was "Fear 'da Tiger" by Bootsy Collins.

"We're pleased with the industry recognition that comes with this award," said Vince Cicero, the Bengals director of corporate sales and marketing, in Wednesday's press release. "The focus ... has always been to deliver the very best product for our football-savvy fans and their enjoyment of the game."

FRIDAY NIGHT TV LIGHTS: The Bengals have been notified that PBS is going to be live Aug. 31 when they play defending Super Bowl champion Indianapolis on the NFL Network in the preseason finale.

The 7:30 game is the last of eight NFL preseason games scheduled for NFL Network during the 2007 preseason. The Network broadcast 44 other preseason games on tape delay.

NFL Network plans to simulcast using feeds from both the Bengals and Colts preseason networks. The game still airs on the Bengals preseason flagship (Channel 12 in Cincinnati), as well as on preseason affiliate stations in Dayton, Columbus, Lexington and Louisville

That makes for back-to-back PBS games on national TV because the Bengals open the season with a 7 p.m. Monday game on ESPN Sept. 10 against another set of defending champs, the AFC North Ravens. Three weeks later PBS goes prime time for the last time in '07 in another ESPN Monday-nighter against New England.
