» Carson Palmer finished with 371 passing yards, his most since he had 401 against Cleveland in 2007. Palmer had a 121.4 rating, which marks just the second time in the last 24 games he has had a 100 rating.
"This one hurts. This one stings. It's one of those seasons where we play a lot of good football teams," Palmer said. "It's hard not to get a 'W' from teams you should get a 'W' from. So we've got to find a way to dig deep. We've got a team that's kind of been up and down next week (Tampa Bay) and then we have a bye and then we have a really long stretch of really good teams we're going to be playing. Some big division games. Some big road games. So we have to suck it up and move past this game. This one really hurt. Becasue we wanted this. We were ready for this team. This one stings a little bit. A lot of bit. But we have to get past it."
» Head coach Marvin Lewis said how his team responds to this loss will be the defining moment of the season.

» Palmer took blame for the two Bengals turnovers, .one of which was a fumble on a handoff to running back Cedric Benson. "I've got to get the ball in Ced's belly," he said.
On that play Benson said he saw cornerback Eric Wright blitzing as well as the Browns defensive end coming up the field.
"I was trying to set myself up make a cut and when I had to change my path I think the quarterback kind of jumped back at the last second," Benson said.
» On the second turnover in the middle of the third quarter Palmer fumbled when he was hit from his blind side after he pump-faked the ball. The Browns recovered on the Bengals 13. It appeared that left guard Nate Livings didn't pick up a stunt on the play.
"That's my fault; I've got to feel that pressure," Palmer said.
» Benson on the style of the game:
"They played our style of football. What they managed to do today is what we've been trying to do on a weekly basis."
» The Bengals expected Browns head coach Eric Mangini to double-team wide receiver Chad Ochocinco because he did it last year in the two games against the Bengals, and the two games while he piloted the Jets. That allowed Terrell Owens to get loose for the second-biggest yardage game of his career (222 yards on 10 catches) that included his first Bengals touchdown and 145th of his career.
» Owens was upset when rookie wide receiver Jordan Shipley took a hit from Browns defensive back T.J. Ward that resulted in a concussion for Shipley.
"It was a ridiculous play," said Owens, who jawed with the Browns after the hit. "To take a cheap shot like that is uncalled for. The guy was defenseless.
"His eyes were rolling back in his head. It was tough to see a teammate go through that."
Added Palmer: "I hate to see Shipley hit like that and I hate to be the reason he gets hit like that. It was a cheap shot that never should have been. ... He's a tough kid... He'll want to play next week but I hope he doesn't because of the situation."
» The Bengals were upset with a defensive holding call against tackle Pat Sims on the Browns' last drive. Cleveland would have been facing a third-and-8 with just under three minutes remaining, but the penalty gave the Browns a first down and caused the Bengals to burn their remaining two timeouts.
"That's the first defensive holding call (in the interior) I've seen all year," Lewis said.
» Safety Chris Crocker on the impact of the loss:
"I know this team will come back but this game is disappointing. It's a division game and now we're back at square one."
» Crocker on Browns running back Peyton Hillis:"He got some tough yards. He got five yards on first down and that put us behind the ball."
» A big play in the game was a sack of Palmer in the red zone on third down with the Bengals trailing 23-10. Cincinnati had to settle for a Mike Nugent field goal to cut the deficit to 23-13 instead of 23-17 with a touchdown.
"I thought (Ochocinco) was getting held," Palmer said. "I thought he was going to come off but he didn't. He was being held. I've got to find a way to get rid of it."
» Safety Chinedum Ndukwe on his questionable personal foul against Browns tight end Ben Watson near the end of the first half:
"It was unfortunate he had to make that call," Ndukwe said. "I didn't feel that was a dirty play or a dirty hit. I'm not a dirty player. If the ball is in the air I'm going to try and take him out."
» Nugent said the plan was to keep the ball away from dangerous Browns kick returner Josh Cribbs. It looked like the Bengals were trying to hit their kickoffs short. "That was kind of the things we were trying to change up," Nugent said. "I didn't hit the ball well. I did a terrible job of setting those guys up."
Cribbs averaged 21.4 yards on five kick returns with a long of 27.
» On the injury front, cornerback Johnathan Joseph left with an arm injury late in the second quarter and did not return. He said his arm is not broken. From what he understands it is a bad bruise.
