The Bengals are reportedly staging a reunion with one of their playoff heroes when running back Samaje Perine agreed Monday to what published reports are calling a two-year deal.
Perine, 29, spent the last two seasons in Denver and Kansas City after a four-year run in Cincinnati. With the status of Zack Moss (neck) unknown, the 5-10, 235-pound Perine provides a complement in size and experience to third-year starter Chase Brown.
Last year, Perine had more catches (28) than carries (20) for the Chiefs while spelling Isaiah Pacheco and Kareem Hunt. His 17-yard catch and run clinched the Chiefs' win over the Bills in the last AFC Championship Game.
Perine, known for his days in Cincinnati as a rock-solid reliable receiver and pass protector, is no stranger to big moments in a Bengals uniform.
On that same Kansas City field in another AFC title game, Perine began the Bengals' climb back from a 21-3 deficit when he took a screen pass 41 yards for a touchdown with 1:05 left in the first half of the 2021 game the Bengals ended up winning, 27-24, in overtime.
