Saturday update: 9 to 85; Scott signs; 4 cut

Updated: 12:50 p.m.

A crowd of about 200 on Select-a-Seat Saturday at Paul Brown Stadium watched the Bengals' last practice before training camp and were treated to a few long balls from quarterback Carson Palmer.

Palmer and wide receiver Chad Ochocinco looked to not only be on the same page, but in the '04-'06 playbook. They culminated a one-minute drill with a 29-yard touchdown when Palmer pump-faked to the middle of the field and then found a flashing pair of orange sweat pants cutting to the corner of the end zone and beating cornerback Johnathan Joseph and safety Chinedum Ndukwe. The Ocho topped it off by scaling the wall and falling into the front row.

Earlier in the practice Palmer found his new target, wide receiver Laveranues Coles, on a bomb of about 50 yards in the air.

But the best catch of the day belonged to wide receiver Chris Henry during the red zone period. As he danced along the back line of the end zone, it was hard to tell if he scored. But there is no question that he reached high above his head to haul in a ball one-handed, much like Ken Griffey Jr., going back to the warning track at Riverfront Stadium.

ROSTER MOVES:The Bengals cut four players after practice Saturday to get down to 81, one over the limit to bring to training camp: Rookies Billy Farris, a free agent quarterback from Colorado State, and long snapper James Smith, a free agent out of Florida. Also gone are two draft picks from last year, tight end Matt Sherry and wide receiver Mario Urrutia.

Also Saturday the Bengals signed their third of 11 draft picks when they inked running back Bernard Scott, the sixth-rounder out of Abilene Christian.
