The Bengals apparently made no changes to their 53-man roster Saturday because their only announcement after the unleashing of the waiver wire concerned the formation of their practice squad.
After the seven players they released Friday cleared waivers and agreed to return on the eight-man squad, the Bengals left one slot open. Heading the list for the second straight season is No. 3 quarterback Zac Robinson off his 16-for-22 passing effort in the preseason finale.
The Bengals rounded out it out Sunday when they signed rookie free agent tackle Jeff Adams. Adams, out of Columbia, played in two preseason games with Dallas before the Cowboys cut him Friday.
The Bengals also inked both rookie running backs they waived in Ohio State's Daniel Herron and Morgan State's Jourdan Brooks, along with fellow rookies Emmanuel Lamur, an outside linebacker from Kansas State, long snapper Bryce Davis of Central Oklahoma, and cornerback Chris Lewis-Harris of Tennessee-Chattanooga. They also signed up right guard Otis Hudson, a fifth-round pick from 2010.
It's believed the Bengals will make a move Tuesday when they put center Kyle Cook on the injured reserve recall list, opening up a spot on the roster that could involve almost any position depending on how the Bengals come out of practice Monday and how the waiver wire settles.
According to a list of transactions on ProFootballTalk.com, the Bengals made no waiver claims Saturday.
One thing seems clear with no roster adjustments Saturday and that is the Bengals are set on keeping seven wide receivers because they'll get the extra spot from the offensive line by shelving Cook. They could add another offensive lineman, or they could re-sign someone they cut Friday. One possibility is linebacker Roddrick Muckelroy if he clears waivers since he has no practice squad eligibility.
Or they could take a look at beefing up their defensive line, which is nursing knee injuries to left ends Carlos Dunlap and Robert Geathers, and has only eight players as opposed to the traditional nine.
One guy the Bengals can't re-sign is tight end Colin Cochart, claimed by Dallas according to a variety of reports.
