With the Colts coming to town for Sunday's 1 p.m. game at Paul Brown Stadium, Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis is looking to tie Sam Wyche for the most wins in franchise history at 64. Wyche worked 132 games and finished 64-68 in an eight-year run including the postseason. Lewis stands at 63-71-1 heading into his 136th game during his ninth season.
Lewis is looking for his first win over the Colts in five games and the Bengals are trying to end a seven-game losing streak against Indianapolis that stretches back to 1998 and Peyton Manning's rookie year.
Also in their weekly news release, the Bengals announced their third PBS game this season won't be sold out and it won't appear on local television.
As of early Tuesday afternoon, it also looked like running back Cedric Benson is going to be available for Sunday's game that can be heard on the Triplecast of 700 WLW, 1530 ESPN, and 102.7 WEBN. An NFL spokesman said he didn't think a decision was going to be announced Tuesday.
Also Tuesday, Dhani Jones announced his retirement via Twitter. Jones, 33, the former Bengals middle linebacker who led the team in tackles the three previous seasons, emerged as a valuable team leader in defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer's defense and had 113 tackles and 3.5 sacks for the 2009 AFC North champs.
NFL Network's Steve Wyche got an "I'm not going to say anything about that" Tuesday from Bengals president Mike Brown at an owners meeting when he asked about trading Carson Palmer before next week's trading deadline.
Translation: Don't hold your breath.
