Fans Encouraged To Arrive Early And Prepare Accordingly Sunday After Fire Closes I-471 Bridge Over Ohio River

The Bengals encourage fans attending Sunday's game against the Las Vegas Raiders to arrive early, expect delays and seek alternate routes to and from Paycor Stadium as necessary after a fire early Friday morning closed the Daniel Carter Beard Bridge and I-471 over the Ohio River. Gameday traffic flow impacts are expected regardless of direction of travel around Paycor Stadium.

Fans may use the Waze App on gameday to identify alternate routes and view real-time traffic updates, including standard gameday closures. For a full list of detour options, visit FOX19.com.

The fire damaged the structural steel of the Daniel Carter Beard Bridge, which will subsequently be shut down for the foreseeable future while repairs occur, according to Cincinnati Assistant Fire Chief Matt Flagler.

The northbound side of the bridge sustained less damage than the southbound side, Ohio Department of Transportation Spokesperson Matt Bruning said. The northbound side will be reopened as soon as it's safe, and most northbound lanes have reopened. The southbound side has significant damage and will be shut down for an extended amount of time, possibly weeks, per Bruning.
