BENGALS TO PRESENT HARRISON HIGH SCHOOL
WITH $150,000 MATCHING GRANT FOR STADIUM
The Bengals this Friday will present a $150,000 NFL Club Matching Field Grant to Harrison (Ohio) High School, for improvements to the Wildcats football stadium and track-and-field complex. The grant supports the school's "Century of Excellence" campaign to upgrade sports facilities. It will help make possible the installation of a new lighting system, bleacher renovation and fencing.
The grant will be presented on the field during halftime of Harrison's 7 p.m. varsity football home game against Northwest by Jeff Berding, Bengals director of sales and public affairs.
The facilities affected are used not only for varsity football, but for local youth sports teams and other community events, including Relay for Life and Special Olympics programs.
"As has been the case for a number of years, we are happy to continue to support local youth sports through grants like this one," said Katie Blackburn, Bengals executive vice-president. "Harrison has a great plan that should positively impact many people in the area."
With this grant, the Bengals have now invested more than $1.9 million in funding for youth sports in Greater Cincinnati.
Harrison High applied for the grant through the Bengals to the NFL Foundation, and its bid was among those selected. The school's athletic boosters are putting up a matching $150,000, through donations and other resources. No tax dollars are being spent on the project.
