Bengals QB Joe Burrow today was named AFC Offensive Player of the Month for regular-season games played in December and January.
In Cincinnati's six games played since Dec. 1, Burrow completed 186 of 244 passes for 1890 yards and 16 TDs with five INTs, while leading the team to a 5-1 record. He led all NFL QBs in completions, completion percentage (76.2) and passing yards during that span, while pacing AFC QBs in TD passes and ranking second in the conference in passer rating (111.2).
Burrow completed at least 70 percent of his passing attempts in each of the six games, beginning with a 73.7 percentage (28 of 38) for 309 yards and three TDs on Dec. 1 vs. Pittsburgh. He followed that up by going 33 of 44 (75.0) for 369 yards and three more TD passes in a road win at Dallas on Monday Night Football.
Burrow passed for three TDs again on Dec. 15 at Tennessee, with each coming in the first half. His third TD pass was his 36th of the season, which broke his own Bengals single-season record of 35 from the 2022 campaign. The following week on Dec. 22, he helped Cincinnati complete a season sweep of Cleveland with 252 passing yards and three TDs.
With his stat line against the Browns, Burrow became the first player in NFL history to record at least 250 passing yards and three TD passes in seven consecutive games. He improved that streak to eight games on Dec. 28 vs. Denver, as he completed 39 of 49 passes (79.6) for 412 yards and three TDs. His performance was capped off by a game-winning TD pass to WR Tee Higgins with 1:07 remaining in overtime. Burrow was named AFC Offensive Player of the Week for Week 17, collecting his seventh career weekly honor.
Burrow rang in the new year by posting a season-high 80.4 completion percentage (37 of 46) for 277 yards and a TD on Jan. 4 at Pittsburgh. On the game's opening drive, he went six-for-six for 64 yards, including a 12-yard TD pass to give Cincinnati an early lead in a must-win game.
This is Burrow's second career — and second consecutive — AFC Offensive Player of the Month award. He also received the honor for games played in November. He is the first player to be named Offensive Player of the Month (AFC or NFC) in back-to-back months since Indianapolis RB Jonathan Taylor in October and November of 2021.
