Bengals QB Joe Burrow today was named AFC Offensive Player of the Week for his performance in the team's 30-24 overtime win against Denver in Week 17.
Burrow completed 39 of 49 passes for 412 yards and three TDs, while rushing four times for 25 yards and a TD. He led all NFL quarterbacks in Week 17 in completions and passing yards, while his 79.6 completion percentage ranked second among AFC quarterbacks and his 122.1 passer rating ranked third.
In the fourth quarter and overtime, Burrow completed 18 of his 20 passing attempts (90.0 percent) for 217 yards and two TDs, including the game-winning TD pass to WR Tee Higgins with 1:07 remaining in the extra period. He also scored a one-yard rushing TD to give Cincinnati the lead with 1:29 left in regulation.
With his first passing score of the game, Burrow became the first QB this season to reach 40 TD passes. He also finished the game with a league-leading 4641 passing yards, which surpassed his own single-season team record of 4611 in the 2021 campaign.
Week 17 marked Burrow's eighth consecutive game with at least 250 passing yards and three TD passes, which extended the longest such streak in NFL history. His third TD pass against the Broncos was the 139th of his career, which surpassed Pro Football Hall of Famer Peyton Manning and Buffalo QB Josh Allen (138 each) for the third-most TD passes in NFL history in a player's first five seasons.
This is Burrow's seventh career AFC Offensive Player of the Week award, and his first of the 2024 season. He received the honor twice in 2021 (Weeks 4 and 6), three times in '22 (Weeks 7, 13 and 16), and once in '23 (Week 8).
Bengals players have combined for 20 weekly honors (Offensive, Defensive and Special Teams) since the start of the 2021 season, the third-most in the NFL in that span.
