This past weekend more than 500 residents had the opportunity to join local sports celebrity and Cincinnati Bengal Quan Cosby, and other sports celebrities in hosting the 2nd Annual Quan Cosby Texas Sports Festival at Mart High School. The focus of the festival was to promote academic achievement, physical fitness, character development and a drug-free lifestyle in area youth.
The two day Sports Festival kicked off on Friday evening with the Amazing Race Event, where the winning team of Jeff Zander & Company won by a mere 28 seconds, in a time of 60:06 minutes.
Saturday featured the free football and cheer camps, where area youngsters were provided the opportunity to learn from the experts and listen to the NFL celebrities share insights and talk about what it takes to be successful in school, sports and life. Participants also received awards for achieving A/B honor roll.

The Sports Festival continued later in the evening with the 3-point shooting contest, where the following individuals were crowned as champions.
Girls Division
Champion - Adranne Rauls, Finalist - Deazhia Cosby
Elementary Division
Champion - Eiljah Green, Finalist - Caleb Chadwell
Upper DivisionChampion - Trevion Medlock, Finalist - Michael Hill
This was followed up by the NFL vs. Teachers basketball game, where Team Cosby edged out the Joes Squad.
