Week In Review: Ryan Finley Named Starting Quarterback
The Bengals made that Deadline Deal Tuesday. Except it was Bengals head coach Zac Taylor's decision to bench quarterback Andy Dalton in exchange for rookie Ryan Finley as the team heads into the bye week. Figuring out what the Bengals have in Finley becomes one of the most important items on the agenda in the second half of the season.
Finley Coolly Takes Command
The one thing you know about the Bengals new starting quarterback is that Ryan Finley may be categorized as a rookie on the roster, but this thing isn't too big for him. Finley briskly checked the boxes in his head and moved on as if Nov. 10 at Paul Brown Stadium is just another day at the office instead of his first NFL start.
Taylor Shakes It Up With Move To Finley
Zac Taylor never thought he'd be in this position when he became the Bengals head coach the day after the last Super Bowl. He thought he'd be in the middle of the AFC North race with a playoff veteran quarterback leading the way. But there he was at the halfway point of the season installing Finley as the starting quarterback.
No. 18 Sounds Ready For '19
A.J. Green must be close. Real close. The man who his teammates call "Dream," sounds like he's ready to put a long Bengaldom nightmare to rest. It was probably because he knows the ankle that has kept him out all season since he injured it in the first 45 minutes of training camp may finally be ready to return for Nov. 10 against the Ravens.
Taylor-Made Takes: We're Looking At Every Avenue
Bengals.com Senior Writer Geoff Hobson sat down with Taylor during the bye week to discuss the quarterback change and a number of other topics in this week's Taylor-Made Takes.
Players React: Business Is Business
Tyler Boyd had no idea when he showed up for work Tuesday that Andy Dalton wouldn't be his starting quarterback when they came back from the bye. But after they went through their normal prep routine, head coach Zac Taylor went door-to-door to tell his team that rookie Ryan Finley got the nod over Dalton.
